Donald Sebastian

Dr. Donald H. Sebastian is the founding President & Chief Innovation Officer of the New Jersey Innovation Institute and Sr VP of Technology & Business Development at New Jersey Institute of Technology. Founded in 2014, NJII, a 5.01c3 Corporation, is a new model for business innovation serving key industrial clusters: biopharmaceuticals, information technology, defense, and healthcare. NJII programs of nearly $80M produced a $1.3 Billion annual impact on the state economy in 2018.

Dr. Sebastian was the founder of NJ Healthcare Information Technology Extension Center, NJ Homeland Security Technology Systems Center, NJ Nanotechnology Consortium and NJ Manufacturing Extension Program and currently serves on the Board of half a dozen non-profit organizations. He was a 2006 inductee of the New Jersey High-Tech Hall of Fame, 2015 NJBIZ Healthcare Innovation Hero, 2016 Made In New Jersey Honor Roll, NJBIZ 2019 Icon Honoree, NJBIZ Power 100 2018-20, NJBIZ Education Power 50 2019-20, NJBIZ Manufacturing Power 50 2019, and ROI’s New Jersey 100 Top Influencers 2018-20 and Healthcare Influencer 2018-19.

Dr. Sebastian received his Bachelor of Engineering at Stevens, graduating as valedictorian of the class of 1974, was a Tau Beta Pi National Fellow, and member of Gear & Triangle activities honor society, Khoda leadership society and the Varsity S club. He received his Masters of Engineering from Stevens in 1975, and the Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering in 1977.
